Basics for Selling your Car

If you are looking to sell your vehicle second-hand there are several things you can do to make it more saleable. If I were selling my used car , I would concentrate on the following aspects.

Try to smarten it up a bit, but do not spend anything that will not help you to make the sale or add value to your car. There is no point in repainting a car that will only cost a few hundred pounds, but there is plenty of point in touching up small scratches or giving the upholstery a good scrub.

Above all make sure it is clean and tidy both inside and out. A shiny car is going to be more appealing to a buyer than one that hasn't been cleaned in months. There is nothing more off putting to a potential customer than finding discarded takeaway cartons on the floor! Make sure that it smells nice too - an air freshener costs little but can make a difference. Oh, and ditch any cuddly toys in the back.

Lastly, check the basic mechanics such as oil, water and tyre pressure. Small but important things.

Nothing in this is rocket science but a clean presentable car is going to be much more attractive than a scruffy one that looks like it has suffered badly on the TLC front.
