Used BMW X5 SUV

Though BMW earned its sterling reputation as a maker of luxury saloon cars and sporty coupes, in the late nineties the company entered the SUV market with the introduction of the X5. At the time, BMW was easily the most prestigious name in the much maligned, though highly profitable market.

The company was also one of the few European car makers to offer an SUV, most likely due to the fact that Europeans tend to prefer vehicles that offer superior fuel efficiency. But the BMW X5 was no monstrous petrol-burning behemoth. In fact, the car easily got the best petrol millage in its class with 34 MPG for the petrol and 39 MPG for the diesel model. Clearly, the X5 was not your average sport utility vehicle. To begin with, it didn’t handle like a truck. Believe it or not, the X5 has better acceleration speeds than most cars, and even a few sports cars. According to the company, it can go from 0-60 MPH in 8.1 seconds. But how can you find a used BMW x5 SUV at a reasonable price?

For the cost conscious car buyer, finding an affordable luxury vehicle at an affordable price can be quite challenging. With one of the highest sticker prices of any SUV on the market, this is also true of the X5. As you might expect, these cars also retain their value quite well, so buyers should expect to pay a slight premium if they purchase a used model from a dealership.

The best, maybe even the only way to find a deal on a BMW is to purchase one in the private market. Since dealerships know the market well, it is unlikely that they will give you a good price. But with a private seller who desperately wants to unload his vehicle, it might be possible to negotiate a favourable deal.
